New York City will host a series of free summer concerts beginning July 19th, as part of the return of the “Rise Up NYC” initiative. The program, now in its fourth year, includes ten live performances scheduled throughout all five boroughs.

Announced by Mayor Eric Adams on Thursday, July 10th, the concert series is part of the city’s broader “We Outside Summer” campaign, aimed at encouraging outdoor community engagement through arts and entertainment. Adams noted the free events offer affordable entertainment and a chance to reconnect with neighborhoods across the five boroughs.

The events are a partnership between the City of New York and the City Parks Foundation’s SummerStage, offering residents cost-free access to musical performances from major national and local artists.

The 2024 lineup features Beenie Man, A Boogie, Hezekiah Walker, Lisa Lisa, Sweet Sensation, Big Daddy Kane, Wayne Wonder, Luis Vargas, Fabolous, and others. Past performers have included high-profile names like Patti LaBelle, Sean Paul, Ja Rule and Wyclef Jean.

Concerts kick off at Wingate Park in Brooklyn on July 19 and continue throughout the weekend. Additional performances are scheduled at Midland Beach in Staten Island (July 26–27), Harlem (August 2), Orchard Beach in the Bronx (August 6–7), and Roy Wilkins Park in Queens (August 16–17).

City officials, including Deputy Mayor Camille Joseph Varlack, emphasized the series’ role in promoting accessible cultural programming. She noted the events provide an inclusive space for New Yorkers to experience live music without financial barriers.
