Cuomo Gains Momentum Heading into Election Trailing Mamdani by 4.5 Points

With Election Day just hours away, the 2025 New York City mayoral race remains highly competitive, as new polling shows Andrew Cuomo gaining ground. The latest AtlasIntel survey indicates the gap between the independent candidate and Democratic front-runner Zohran Mamdani has narrowed to 4.5 percentage points, reflecting a shift in voter support as momentum builds for Cuomo.

According to the poll, Mamdani leads with 43.9% of the vote, up from 40.6% since October 30, while Cuomo rises from 34% to 39.4%. Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, who previously held 24.1% support, has seen his numbers drop to 15.5%, contributing to the tightening race. The proportion of undecided voters remains minimal, hovering around 1.2%, suggesting most voters have already committed to a candidate.

In a hypothetical head-to-head matchup between Cuomo and Mamdani, the poll shows Cuomo with 49.7% support, while Mamdani receives 44.1%. The number of undecided or nonvoting respondents has declined to 6.2%, indicating voters are making final decisions ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Cuomo’s campaign highlighted the trend in the latest polling, emphasizing the growing momentum. “The trend continues—the momentum is ours,” Cuomo stated. “The more people vote, the stronger we are—let’s go, New York City. We are going to win!”

Demographic data from the head-to-head poll shows Cuomo performing particularly well among older voters, women, white residents, and those with lower levels of education or middle incomes. He also holds notable support among Asian, Black, and Hispanic voters, as well as Republican and independent voters and those who did not participate in previous elections, reflecting a broad base of backing across multiple segments of the electorate.

The narrowing margin highlights the race’s volatility and the potential for shifts in voter turnout to influence the outcome. As New Yorkers head to the polls, Cuomo’s campaign is capitalizing on the late momentum to secure crucial support in a contest that remains unpredictable.
